Arabic Language Level B2

Course Overview

Level B2 Arabic is designed to develop advanced intermediate language proficiency. Students will expand their vocabulary, grammar, and communicative skills to engage in spontaneous and fluent conversations on a wide range of topics. The course emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural competence, and the ability to understand complex texts and arguments.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.   
• Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.  
• Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.  

Course Outputs

Students will demonstrate their learning through:

• Engaging in debates, simulations, and role-plays on complex topics.
• Writing academic essays, reports, and summaries.
• Delivering presentations and public speeches.
• Analyzing authentic materials such as news articles, literary texts, and films.
• Demonstrating intercultural competence through cross-cultural comparisons and critical thinking.

Course Requirements

Students are expected to:

• Attend classes regularly and actively participate in discussions.
• Complete the assigned readings, listening exercises, and writing tasks.
• Engage in independent language learning activities, such as watching Arabic films or listening to Arabic podcasts.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Develop intercultural competence and sensitivity.

By the end of the B2 level, students will have acquired the language skills necessary to function effectively in a variety of academic, professional, and social contexts. They will be well-prepared to pursue advanced studies or careers that require proficiency in Arabic.
